Joey joined Laidlaw College as the Internship Coordinator in March 2020. Previously, he served the College as a Student Support Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant for the School of Theology. Joey also works as an Assistant Pastor with East City Wesleyan Church in Auckland.
Joey is passionate about seeing the Church in Aotearoa think well as we try, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to make disciples and live faithfully for Christ.
He completed a BA in Ministry from Kingswood University (2015), an MA in Theology through Acadia Divinity College (2017), and a MTh through Laidlaw Graduate School. His MA thesis focused on John 6:51–59 and the viability of a Eucharistic interpretation and his MTh thesis explored Adam-Christ typology in Romans 5:12-21.
Joey hails from Canada and met his kiwi wife, Lauren, while at Kingswood University. They were married in 2015 and spent three years serving as pastors in Nova Scotia, Canada, prior to moving to New Zealand in 2018.
