Alastair took up the role of Finance Operations and Systems Manager in May 2023. His role is responsible for the delivery and continuous improvement of Laidlaw’s financial processes, systems, and data. On a day-to-day basis, he provides proactive technical and people leadership for the interface between Finance and wider College systems and teams.
He is a key support to the Chief Financial Officer in ensuring that the Finance team overall can successfully deliver to the needs of the College, including provision of quality financial reporting and successful core processes and systems. Alastair’s focus is on supporting the Finance team to be successful by helping to address barriers that hinder key processes and driving continuous improvement.
Outside of Laidlaw, Alastair is an elder at Greenlane Presbyterian church, where he also regularly leads worship. He is the treasurer and a board member for two small charitable trusts which manage investments for the benefit of one of New Zealand’s church denominations. Alastair loves being outdoors to experience the natural beauty of our country, whether on cycle trails, tramping, skiing, short weekend walks or gardening. He’s also a keen jogger, often seen pounding the streets of Epsom or taking on the trails in or around Cornwall Park. His family have recently become dog owners, so he might also be seen out walking their dog Lexie (a schnoodle) at some of Auckland’s dog parks.
